This is probably due to a script blocker such as NoScript in your browser. Add Adventurotica.com to the list of permitted sites, reload, and try again.
What genres do you write in? ↑
"Adventurotica" describes a style and approach more than a specific genre, but we are dorks, and so you can expect a lot of fantastical settings from us. We have already covered Wild West with a dash of Steampunk, then moved on to Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance, and now we are about to venture forth into the West again with even more Steampunk. In the future we plan to cover High Fantasy, Swashbuckling Adventure, Planetary Romance, Science Fiction, Superhero, and anything else we think sounds cool.
How often do you update? ↑
Three times a week, without fail. Okay, sometimes the update day falls on a holiday or something and we post a silly poem instead, or when a story ends we might skip a day or two before revving up the new one. Otherwise, we post Mon-Wed-Fri every week, usually in the wee hours of the early morning. (We're in the US Central time zone, UTC -6.)
When a story is completed, can I download it or buy it? ↑
Yes. We eventually release every serial as an ebook, and often begin formatting before the serial has even wrapped. It generally takes some time to get a cover made, get the book formatted, etc., but we try to get it done as fast as we can. All our previous completed works are already available at the "buy" link above, as well as some other stuff we wrote that isn't adventurotica, but is nevertheless awesome.
So why would I buy a subscription when I can just wait and get the ebooks? ↑
Hopefully because you love us and want us to live happily ever after. Also, all the previous content is readable here so long as you are subscribed, so not only do you get the new chapters as they are posted, but all the old stories, so as we archive more stuff, the monthly subscription will continue to become a better deal. But if you just want to buy ebooks, that's fine too, we won't say no to that.
Can I donate extra, or donate without joining? ↑
Yes, absolutely. There's a donate button on the sidebar, and you can use it to drop a tip in the tip jar anytime. We really, really appreciate every donation.
What is the sex-to-story ratio in your posts? ↑
It can vary quite a bit with the particular story, but we try to make at least one chapter a week a sex chapter. Sometimes we don't manage it, and towards the end the action kicks up and we may not get any sex for the last few weeks. Again, it varies a lot, and we have no specific formula for writing the stories, and we try to let them develop like any other story.
What kinds of sex can I expect in an Adventurotica story? ↑
All kinds. We do skew rather hetero, and we love a good threesome, but we do include m/m and f/f content, and plan to keep that going. We tend to go in for group sex, voyeurism, light to medium BDSM, edgeplay, dirty talking and borderline noncon sex. Basically, we'll do anything we think is hot. We try to note when content might be disturbing or triggering for people and in what way, but do bear in mind that we have high tolerances for that sort of thing. Our "light to medium BDSM" might be another person's "Topeka Apples Tiara RED RED RED."
What don't you do? ↑
Necrophilia, pedophilia, sex with non-intelligent animals. Those things are flat-out wrong. (Vampires, teenage witches, and werewolves are another matter. . . .) Shit, puke. Those things don't hurt anyone, but are hard limits for us.
What's the difference between ravishment and rape? ↑
Rape is a horrible crime. Ravishment is the sexual fantasy of a character being forced or coerced into having sex they didn't know or want to admit that they wanted. This is meant to be erotic entertainment, and in certain kinds of stories, (anything involving pirates, for example) there is no way around the ubiquitous nature of ravishment, so we just run with it. This is a fantasy universe, where the uptight, buttoned-down hero (or heroine) can be taken prisoner and fucked eight ways from last Tuesday and love every minute of it, even if they can't admit it. We have to live in the real world every day, and we take the ugly fact of real-world rape seriously, but we don't write in the real world or let the ugly realities of real life get in the way of our fantasies. That would be way too depressing to contemplate.
What exactly is a "hate fuck"? ↑
This is a byproduct of the fact that you can absolutely loathe someone and still find them maddeningly sexy, and sex between people who hate each other can be hot enough to melt the core of an atomic reactor. A lot of the fun of porn with plot is having people maneuvered into situations where they do things, and people, that they would not voluntarily do. Think Buffy and Spike.
Do you take requests? ↑
We thrive on feedback and we try to respond to it. We try to do more of what people like and less of what they don't, to a degree anyway. You won't, for example, be able to convince us to stop writing bondage, non-con, or buttsex. The story comes first, and we'd be more likely to respond to a statement like "I would love to see X character get it on with Y character" than just a simple "I'd like some fisting." Unfortunately, the latter is easier to engineer than the former, so it sort of evens out.
Bonus content? What's this about bonus content? ↑
Awesome shit that we didn't promise you, but that you get anyway. We plan to have subscriber-first as well as ebook-only bonus content. Right now, we are trying to get some bonus scenes into each ebook, mostly featuring secondary characters that didn't get nearly enough fucking the first time around. Some of these are the results of requests.
So what happened to that Steampunk Pirate story you started? ↑
Vengeance and Valor wound up being more complex than we'd anticipated. Amanda needed more time to work on it, and the rapid updates were not going to be possible to keep up. Work on it proceeds, and it absolutely will return someday.
Where does the money go? ↑
To keep a roof over our heads, pay for doctor's appointments, bloodwork, and medications, and feed the cats, with the occasional $10 cover charge for the local BDSM club thrown in. Research is important, you know. Good causes, all.
Can I submit my own stories? ↑
Sorry, folks. We ain't that kind of publisher. In the future, we may have occasional contests, or invite people to submit to a benefit anthology, but any unsolicited submission will be deleted unread.
Will you pimp out my stories/site/etc. for me? ↑
We are not yet sure how much of that sort of thing we're going to be doing here. We will consider it -- absolutely no promises -- if your site/story/etc. is professional, relevant, and sex/woman-positive. And we'd need to know you'd return the favor.
Will you permanently link to my site on yours? ↑
Right now we aren't set up for that, but in the future we will consider linking to other sites if, again, they are relevant, professional, and sex/woman-positive. And no promises.
